Developing Asia to continue driving global steel demand in 2019

Developing Asia, particularly Southeast Asia and India, will continue to drive global steel demand in 2019, delegates at the annual conference of the World Steel Association (Worldsteel) heard.

“Steel demand in developed countries will slow down in 2019, but some emerging markets will continue to show growth,” Saeed G. Al Remeithi, the chairman of the Worldsteel economics committee, said at the conference in Tokyo, Japan on Tuesday October 16.
