Mount Gibson set to sell high-grade iron ore from March 2019

Australia’s Mount Gibson Iron expects to start selling high-grade iron ore from its Koolan Island project in Western Australia at the end of March 2019 upon completion of repairs at the mine, which was flooded following the collapse of a section of its seawall.

The miner is looking to “benefit from the premium for high-grade ores sought by steelmakers in China and other parts of the world” once sales commence. Mining operations at the Koolan Island project were halted in October 2014 after a section of the mine’s seawall collapsed and caused flooding.
