US structural tubing price drops during slow January

Prices for domestically produced structural tubing in the United States have fallen for the 12th week since August after persistent declines in mills' substrate costs convinced distributors to wait longer for lower electric-resistance-welded (ERW) prices.

Fastmarkets AMM's pricing assessment for US domestic A500 hollow structural sections declined to a new range of $1,040-1,085 per ton ($52-54.25 per hundredweight) fob mill on Thursday January 10, from $1,060-1,100 per ton ($53-55 per cwt) on Thursday January 3.
