SEMAS production embargo at Hydro's Alunorte alumina refinery removed

The Brazilian environmental agency in the state of Pará, SEMAS, has removed the production embargo at the Alunorte refinery owned by Hydro, the world’s biggest alumina producer.

Hydro has received a technical note from SEMAS confirming Alunorte can safely resume normal operations, the producer said on Wednesday January 16. But the removal of the production embargo from SEMAS does not allow for immediate resumption of full operation at Alunorte because an embargo by the Federal Court remains in force.
