The chrome ore and alloys markets were mostly stable in the pricing session ended Friday January 25 amid subdued activity in advance of Chinese New Year (February 4-10).
But Fastmarkets’ charge chrome index, cif China, nudged up by $0.01 - or 1.3% - to $0.81 per lb on Friday in response to reports of higher bids.
Yet other buy-side participants did not recognize the need to increase their bids, and no trades were reported.
Some market participants told Fastmarkets they felt signs of improved sentiment in the imported charge chrome ferro-chrome market.
