Prices for charge chrome, UG2 and Turkish lumpy chrome ore were all stable in the week ended Friday February 8 amid low liquidity due to the Lunar New Year holidays, which resulted in the absence of many Asian market participants for most of the week.
Fastmarkets’ charge chrome index, cif Shanghai, was $0.81 per lb on February 8, unchanged from the prior week.
“Buyers are scared to do anything in case the market drops,” a producer said. “There is no point in them taking a risk.”
Fastmarket’s UG2 index, cif China, was similarly unmoved week on week, holding at $161 per tonne on February 8.
