China’s CRC, HDG export prices climb on higher offers, domestic gains

Export prices for Chinese cold-rolled coil and hot-dipped galvanized coil surged during the past week amid increasing offers and higher domestic prices in the country, although trading activity had yet to pick up after the holiday lull.

There were no pricing updates for the week ended February 6 due to China's national holidays on February 4-10 for the Lunar New Year. Cold-rolled coil Fastmarkets MB’s weekly export price assessment for Chinese SPCC 1.0mm CRC was $530-540 per tonne fob China on Tuesday February 12, up by $10-15 per tonne from $520-525 per tonne on January 29. No deals were reported, while firm offers were also sparse. There was limited spot trading for both CRC and HDG because Chinese participants only started to return to the market on Monday.
