CHINA REBAR: Prices rise on weekend billet gains

China’s rebar prices moved up on Monday February 25 in both the domestic and export markets following higher billet prices over the weekend.

Domestic  Eastern China (Shanghai): 3,750-3,800 yuan ($559-566) per tonne, up 30-40 yuan per tonne Northern China (Beijing): 3,740-3,770 yuan per tonne, up 10-20 yuan per tonne Billet prices moved up over the weekend on stronger demand, leading to high rebar prices. Rebar futures opened at a high price in the morning on the billet gains, but dropped soon after, with buyers on interested in purchasing limited tonnages on seeing the weak futures market, sources said.
