CHINA HRC: Prices lose momentum on lower activity

China’s domestic hot-rolled coil prices stopped rising on Wednesday March 13 after trading activity thinned.

Domestic Eastern China (Shanghai): 3,840-3,860 yuan ($572-575) per tonne, unchanged Northern China (Tianjin): 3,760-3,780 yuan per tonne, unchanged Buyers, especially stockists, cut their procurement rates on seeing the weakening futures market, sources said. End-user demand for HRC has not increased significantly, so stockists took a more prudent approach in replenishing their inventories, a trader in Shanghai said.
