The uptrend in Vietnam’s scrap import prices came to a halt this week, amid a slowdown in procurement activity and falling bid levels, market sources said.
Fastmarkets’ weekly import price assessment for HMS 1&2 (80:20) sold into Vietnam was $340-350 per tonne cfr for the week to Friday March 22, widening downward by $5 per tonne from $345-350 per tonne cfr.
Prices had previously increased on March 8 and March 15.
Deep-sea offers for bulk shipments of HMS 1&2 (80:20) scrap from the US and Europe varied at around $344-360 per tonne cfr Vietnam, compared with $347-355 per tonne cfr last week.
