CESCO – INTERVIEW: Chile's Enami to increase copper production by 7.7% in 2019

Chilean copper producer Empresa Nacional de Minería (Enami) expects to produce 140,000 tonnes of copper in 2019, an increase of 7.7% over 2018, sales manager Pedro Pablo Lavin told Fastmarkets on Tuesday April 9.

Enami produced 130,000 tonnes last year. The volumes are comprised of 120,000 tonnes of electro-refined (ER) cathode – from anodes and concentrates – as well as 20,000 tonnes of solvent extraction-electrowinning (SX-EW) cathode. The increase in production is coming from its Paipote smelter in the Atacama desert, in northern Chile.
