NEWSBREAK: Hanzhong Smelter part-restarts operation line early; tailings disposal plant still being built

Major Chinese zinc producer Hanzhong Smelter has restarted half of an operation line that was halted last year, which is expected to bring an additional 4,000 tonnes of metal back into production in April, sources familiar with the matter told Fastmarkets.

Hanzhong Smelter owns three production lines with an annual zinc capacity of 360,000 tonnes. It was ordered to halt two lines last September following a round of stringent environmental inspections to build a waste disposal plant and properly deal with its tailings.
It brought back online half of its second production line on Tuesday April 9. It had originally planned to resume operation in May.
