CESCO: Antofagasta running projects to lower carbon footprint, CEO says

Antofagasta is running a series of projects to help the company achieve its targeted reduction in emissions over the next few years, a move that will both lower its carbon footprint and cut costs, the company’s chief executive officer said.

The company has set an internal target of reducing carbon emissions by 300,000 tonnes of CO2 by 2022, Ivan Arriagada told Fastmarkets in an interview during the annual CESCO week in Santiago, Chile.
“We’re very focused working on achieving that target,” he added.
In 2017, the company's CO2 emissions per tonne of copper produced were 3.87 tonnes.
