MMTA CONF: Molybdenum market to stay volatile in 2019 - Shaanxi Head-Moly

The molybdenum market is set to remain volatile in 2019, Jessica Young, sales director at Shaanxi Head-Moly, said during the annual Minor Metals Trade Association (MMTA) conference in Edinburgh, Scotland, last week.

From August to November 2018, molybdenum prices climbed to their highest level in recent years with the rate of molybdenum production also reaching a similar peak, Young said. The price of molybdenum concentrate in China climbed from 680 yuan ($101) per metric tonne unit (mtu) in November 2015 to 2,000 yuan per mtu by the end of 2018.
