Recovery in China’s CRC, HDG export prices expected to stall on stagnant demand, spot supply shortage

Export prices for Chinese cold-rolled coil were down slightly during the week to Tuesday April 23 due to limited demand in overseas markets, while export prices for hot-dipped galvanized coil rose amid a lack of availability in spot supply.

Market sources said the recovery in CRC and HDG prices in 2019 could be halted in the next few weeks. Cold rolled coil Fastmarkets MB’s weekly export price assessment for Chinese SPCC 1mm CRC was $565-575 per tonne fob China on Tuesday April 23, down by $5 per tonne on the high end from a week earlier. Multiple shipments of CRC were booked by buyers in Southeast Asia and East Asia at around $565-570 per tonne fob China during the week.
