Brazil’s aluminium demand estimates at risk on economic slowdown, Abal says

The slowdown in the Brazilian economy is putting estimates for aluminium product consumption in the country at risk, president of sector association Abal Milton Rego told Fastmarkets on Tuesday April 23.

Officially, the forecast for aluminium apparent use growth is 5-7% in 2019. But the overall economy is not gaining momentum so estimates could be reviewed down, Rego said. The 5-7% forecast was calculated when gross domestic product (GDP) growth estimates for the country hovered around 2.5%.
