Sino-US trade tensions dampen interest for Chinese wire rod exports

Export prices for China-origin wire rod dropped over the week ended Tuesday May 14 on the bearish market sentiment generated by the trade war between China and the United States.

Fastmarkets’ export price assessment for June shipments of Chinese chromium-added mesh-quality wire rod was $530-535 per tonne fob on May 14, down by $15 per tonne from a week earlier.
