Weak demand, stocks pressure weigh on Chinese spot ferro-chrome price; bearish expectations for June tender prevail

The Chinese spot market ferro-chrome price has and will continue to come under downward pressure in the near term due to weak demand from Chinese stainless steel mills, sources told Fastmarkets MB.

Stocks pressure faced by both Chinese stainless steel mills and ferro-chrome smelters also weighed on the ferro-chrome price in the domestic market, sources added. Fastmarkets assessed the Chinese spot market domestic ferro-chrome price at 6,800-7,000 yuan ($990-1,019) on Friday May 10, a drop of 100 yuan per tonne or 1.4% week on week.
