China’s plate exporters cut prices amid shrinking order books

A drop in orders led Chinese plate exporters to lower their offers over the past week.

The Fastmarkets MB export price assessment for June shipments of commercial-grade, chromium-added plate was $535-542 per tonne fob for the week ended Tuesday May 14, down $3-5 per tonne from $540-545 per tonne fob a week earlier. Both traders and mill sources told Fastmarkets MB that the number of their customers who were bidding for cargoes in the past week had fallen from a week earlier. This led them to lower their prices.
