Global copper market flips to 74,000-tonne surplus in February, ICSG says

The global refined copper market recorded a surplus of 74,000 tonnes in February 2019, compared with a deficit of 33,000 tonnes in the prior month, according to preliminary data released by the International Copper Study Group (ICSG).

World refined copper production totaled 1.83 million tonnes in February, down by 9.4% from 2.02 million tonnes in January, while usage amounted to 1.76 million tonnes in February versus 2.05 million tonnes in Janaury, the ICSG said on Monday May 20.
