Chinese manganese ore imports fall over 15% on declining shipments from Ghana

Manganese ore shipments into China in April fell slightly over 15% month on month amid a significant drop in imports from Ghana, Fastmarkets learned.

China imported 2.29 million tonnes of manganese ore in April, down by 15.19% from 2.7 million tonnes in March, but up by 13.9% from 2.01 million tonnes in April of last year, according to official but unconfirmed data obtained by Fastmarkets. The decrease in manganese ore inflow was mainly due to a sharp drop in imports from Ghana, which shipped just 79,910 tonnes of manganese ore to China in April compared with a record-high shipment of 659,543...
