Pessimism leads Chinese traders to concede lower export prices for plate

A bearish outlook for China’s plate export market has made Chinese traders of the product more willing to sell them at lower prices to secure more orders.

The Fastmarkets MB export price assessment for July/August shipments of Chinese commercial-grade, chromium-added plate was $518-525 per tonne fob for the week ended Tuesday June 4, down $2-5 per tonne from $520-530 per tonne fob a week earlier. Most transactions over the past week were concluded at around $525 per tonne fob, with a few traders paying mills around the country this much for the product.
