Indonesia was on track to supply 700,000 tonnes of nickel units this year, including ores, matte, nickel pig iron (NPI) and ferronickel. This will, however, still be less than in 2013, before the country imposed an ore export ban, Lennon said at the International Nickel Conference in Amsterdam.
The country produced 551,000 tonnes of nickel units in 2018, which was around 25% of global supply.
Following the introduction of the ore export ban in 2014, Indonesia invested heavily in converting its nickel output to nickel pig iron and stainless steel.
