Major Japanese mill maintains plate offers for July on costlier raw materials

A leading Japanese steelmaker is maintaining its plate offer of $660 per tonne cfr to Southeast Asia for shipments made in July amid costlier raw materials.

“Most steel plate producers in Asia are rolling over their offers because their raw materials costs have increased since March,” a source at the mill said earlier this week, referring to iron ore price rises attributed to supply disruptions affecting major miners Vale, BHP and Rio Tinto this year.
