Fastmarkets announced the launch of its South America Galvalume steel coil import price assessment on Wednesday June 19. This assessment will be published on a weekly basis. The aluminium-zinc alloy coated steel coil is mainly used by the construction and automotive industries.
Galvalume import prices in the region had been heard at $725-735 per tonne cfr in the previous two weeks, although that price level was not an official assessment. The decrease follows an overall Chinese downtrend; China is the primary supplier of Galvalume to South America.
