Brazil’s slab export prices fall further amid growing cost pressures

Export prices for Brazilian slab fell last week, with transactions being concluded below prevailing levels amid intense competition and weakness in downstream flat steel markets.

But sellers are increasingly worried about cost pressures, with prices for iron ore and coking coal remaining high.
The weekly Fastmarkets MB export price assessment for slab in Brazil was $415-425 per tonne fob last Friday June 28, compared with $425-440 per tonne fob a week before.
