China’s export plate prices rise further, but growth expected to slow

China’s plate export prices rose over the past week amid an uptrend in the steel market, though participants are expecting slower growth for this segment amid relatively weak demand.

The Fastmarkets MB export price assessment for August shipments of Chinese commercial-grade, chromium-added plate was $512-520 per tonne fob for the week ended Tuesday July 2, up $5-7 per tonne from $505-515 per tonne fob a week earlier.
