Chinese vanadium prices drift lower amid soft demand and weak sentiment

Chinese export prices for ferro-vanadium and vanadium pentoxide (VO5) continued to fall in the latest assessment period as of Thursday July 4 amid a persistent lack of buying interest from abroad.

Fastmarkets’ assessment of the export price for ferro-vanadium, 78% V min, fob China, narrowed downward to $34.50-36.50 per kg on July 4, down from $34.50-37 per kg in the prior week.
The lack of appetite from overseas buyers was partly due to seasonally low demand, market sources said. Meanwhile, an obviously higher ferro-vanadium price in China than that in Europe has also dampened overseas consumers’ interest in importing cargoes from China, sources added.
