China’s export plate prices rise despite thin trading

China’s plate producers raised export prices last week after traders rushed to buy on expectation of further gains, while overseas buyers continued to largely stay out of the market.

Fastmarkets’ export price assessment for August/September shipments of commercial-grade, chromium-added plate was $520-525 per tonne fob for the week ended Tuesday July 9, up $5-8 per tonne from $512-520 per tonne fob the week prior.
