China to allow additional 125,000t of copper scrap imports in H2

China has announced a second round of copper scrap import quotas allowing a select list of importers to bring an additional 124,500 tonnes of copper scrap into the country during the second half this year, according to a statement on Wednesday July 10.

The list, mainly comprising Guangdong and Zhejiang metal scrap importers, was compiled and released by the Center of China Solid Waste and Chemicals Management under the Ministry of Environmental Protection, and also includes aluminium and ferrous scrap importers, as well as waste paper importers.  The first round of quotas was announced in late June, allowing 240,429 tonnes of copper scrap imports to enter the country in the third quarter of this year.
