BHP raises copper production guidance for FY2020 on increased throughput at Escondida

Australia-headquartered BHP has raised its copper production target for its 2020 financial year ending June 2020, amid a context of tight availability for copper concentrates and a drop in treatment and refining charges (TC/RCs) for the raw material this year.

Fastmarkets’ benchmark copper concentrate TC/RCs index cif Asia Pacific fell to a historical low of $52.50 per tonne / 5.25 cents per lb on Friday July 12. This represents a 39% decrease from $86.10 / 8.61 cents on July 13, 2018.
