Fastmarkets’ price assessment for steel sections (medium), domestic, delivered Northern Europe, was €615-630 ($687-704) per tonne on Wednesday, widening downward from €620-630 per tonne one week earlier.
One distributor said that a reduction in the price could be achieved if it were negotiated now.
“Prices are not going up at the moment, maybe because of the quiet summer period. After the summer, [trading activity] will pick up,” he added.
The price of hot-rolled coil (HRC), the feedstock for hollow sections production, has fallen for a fifth consecutive week.
