US structural tubing prices rise; increases still on the march

Prices for domestically produced structural tubing in the United States strengthened for the third week since the national Independence Day holiday after mills gradually applied previously announced hikes.

Fastmarkets AMM's weekly pricing assessment for steel hollow sections ASTM A500 Grade B domestic fob mill US rose to $880-920 per ton ($44-46 per hundredweight) on Thursday August 1 from $870-920 per ton ($43.50-46 per cwt) on Thursday July 25.   The latest assessment establishes that mills are collecting the full $40-per-ton ($2-per-cwt) increase announced on Friday June 28.
