CIS LONG STEEL: Prices down, rebar-wire rod differential widens

Prices for rebar and wire rod to be exported from the CIS slipped in the week ended Monday August 12 amid increased pressure from Turkish market participants, which cut their prices in response to low demand in the major sales outlets as well as domestically.

Several cargoes of CIS rebar were sold to the Middle East at around $445 per tonne fob Black Sea last week, sources told Fastmarkets, after initial offers of around $455-460 per tonne fob Black Sea.
“I do not think you can to expect to achieve more than $445 per tonne fob Black Sea for rebar,” a producer source said.
