CHINA HRC: Prices rise amid partial suspension of US tariff on Chinese goods

China’s hot-rolled coil sellers raised prices on Wednesday August 14 amid gains in the country’s financial markets after the United States took $156 billion worth of Chinese goods out of a list of items that is to start incurring a new 10% import tariff next month.

Eastern China (Shanghai): 3,720-3,730 yuan ($527-528) per tonne, up 20 yuan per tonne
Northern China (Tangshan): 3,720-3,730 yuan per tonne, up 20-30 yuan per tonne

Mills in northern China raised their ex-works prices by around 30 yuan per tonne on seeing the gains in the stock market, which was boosted by the US government’s postponement of a new tariff some Chinese products, such as smartphones, laptops and toys....
