ArcelorMittal Italia to continue production despite adoption of Crescita decree

Flat steel producer ArcelorMittal Italia will “continue operations beyond” September 6 at its plant in Taranto, Italy, despite the country’s adoption of the so-called Crescita Decree law, the company said on Wednesday September 4.

The steelmaker had previously expressed concerns that the adoption of the decree would threaten the operation of the plant.
On September 4, Italian authorities adopted the Crescita Decree, which removes legal protection pending the implementation of an environmental plan for the Taranto plant.
