COKING COAL DAILY: Seaborne prices plunge as ex-China buyers turn away

Offers for premium mid-vol hard coking coal plunged in the seaborne market on Tuesday September 17 after several days of inactivity.

Premium hard coking coal, fob DBCT: $144.08 per tonne, down $4.07 per tonne Premium hard coking coal, cfr Jingtang: $160.63 per tonne, down $7.13 per tonne Hard coking coal, fob DBCT: $131.75 per tonne, unchanged Hard coking coal, cfr Jingtang: $150.26 per tonne, unchanged Low-vol PCI, fob DBCT: $98.94 per tonne, unchanged Low-vol PCI, cfr Jingtang: $107.75 per tonne, down $4.02 per tonne Premium mid-vol cargoes were heard offered at around $155 per tonne cfr China during the day, sources in China said. In contrast, a premium mid-vol cargo was traded at $152 per tonne fob Australia last week. An October-loading cargo of premium mid-vol materials was also heard to have been traded at $145 per tonne cfr China during the day. But this transaction was not given full weighting in the calculation of the relevant Fastmarkets index because of insufficient information at the time...
