EUROPE BEAMS: Prices down on continued uncertainty

Prices for steel H-beam in Northern and Southern Europe fell again this week due to poor demand and low purchasing of material, sources told Fastmarkets on Wednesday October 16.

Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel beams, domestic, delivered Northern Europe, was €540-570 ($595-628) per tonne on October 16, down from €540-580 per tonne on October 9.
“Demand is okay. Prices came down hard, so the scrap price improvement is more of a stabilization. This month it won’t pick up [and] it will be difficult to get prices up,” a distributor said.
