Mixed Q3 for Ternium with steel shipments up in Mexico, down in Argentina

Third-quarter steel shipments from Ternium’s operations in Mexico improved on an annual basis in 2019, the company said this week, while the volumes dispatched from its facilities in Argentina fell in the same comparison.

Shipments from Ternium’s Mexican plants reached 1.63 million tonnes in June-September, up by 7% from the same period in 2018, with sales amounting to 1.53 million tonnes, the company said late on Tuesday October 29.
The increase was due to a gradual recovery in domestic demand for steel, Ternium said.

Revenues fell by 19%, however, because of lower steel prices in its main markets, the company said, dipping to $2.42 billion in the quarter,...
