Dalbeler is also a member of the board of directors of the Turkish Iron & Steel Producers’ Association (TÇÜD). He was speaking during the World Steel Dynamics conference in Milan, Italy, last week.
“EU flat steel imports from Turkey have been on a downtrend since the beginning of the year,” Dalbeler said. “The revision of the [hot-rolled coil] import quota rules will further reduce Turkey’s HRC exports to the EU.”
In late September, the European Commission (EC) set a limit on HRC shipments to the EU
, according to which no exporting country will be allowed to exceed a share of 30% of the global tariff-rate quota. Any sales above that limit will be subject to 25% duty.
