Alcoa-Rio Tinto JV's first batch of green aluminium sold to Apple

Elysis, the Alcoa-Rio Tinto joint-venture, has produced its first batch of carbon-free aluminium, which will be shipped to co-investor Apple this month, Apple told Fastmarkets on Thursday December 5.

“This month, Elysis will make its first shipment of [greenhouse gas]-free metal produced at the Alcoa Technical Center in Pittsburgh to Apple,” the multi-national technology company told Fastmarkets on Thursday. “As a founding investor, Apple continues to provide technical support to Elysis and intends to make additional purchases over the course of the technology’s development.
