Southeast Asian billet import prices stable ahead of year-end lull

Prices in Southeast Asia’s steel billet market remained stable on Friday December 20 due to limited trading activity ahead of the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays.

“Prices are likely to remain unchanged for the rest of the year because today is unofficially the final working day of the year,” a trader in the Philippines said.
Fastmarkets’ daily price assessment for steel billet, import, cfr Southeast Asia, was $445-448 per tonne on December 20, unchanged from the previous day.
The assessment was in the range of $445-446 per tonne cfr Southeast Asia at the beginning of the week before widening upward from Wednesday onward.
