Ferro-vanadium prices under pressure; Chinese V2O5 price dips again

The European ferro-vanadium price edged down last week in the midweek assessment before steadying in a quiet spot market to end the week at $21.95-22.50 per kg with some market participants still negotiating long-term contracts.

Fastmarkets’ ferro-vanadium basis 78% V min, 1st grade, ddp Western Europe assessment had been at $22.50-23 per kg a week ago. Focus on annual contracts, which are taking place later than in the previous years, is dampening activity in the spot market, market sources said.
In China, the ferro-vanadium export price stabilized in the latest assessment period amid low liquidity and despite a slight weakening in the domestic market. This followed a 3.4% week-on-week fall in the previous session from $28-30 per kg.
