China’s CRC, HDG export prices climb amid stable domestic market

Export prices for Chinese cold-rolled coil and hot-dipped galvanized coil continued on an upward trend during the week to Tuesday December 24 amid stable domestic prices.

Market participants were expecting trading activity to slow down due to the upcoming year-end festive season, while some sources expressed uncertainty about how prices would change in January 2020 in the lead up to the week-long Lunar New Year holiday in China.
“It seems that the mills are trying to push up prices but most buyers are likely to remain conservative in their procurement decisions due to the risk of large price swings with Chinese New Year approaching,” a trader in Southeast Asia said.
