CHINA HRC: Prices weaken on thinner trading

China’s hot-rolled coil prices weakened on Friday January 10 after trading activity dropped amid weakening demand before the upcoming Chinese New Year holiday.

Eastern China (Shanghai): 3,870-3,900 yuan ($557-561) per tonne, down 10-20 yuan per tonne
Northern China (Tangshan): 3,620 yuan per tonne, narrowing downward by 10 yuan per tonne
The dominant prices in Shanghai fell to 3,880-3,890 yuan per tonne on Friday, down from 3,900-3,920 yuan per tonne several days ago.
Some HRC of smaller thicknesses were sold cheaper, mainly at 3,870 yuan per tonne, due to relatively higher supply, a Shanghai-based trader said.
