A380.1 alloy price hits more than 3-month high

Most secondary aluminium alloy prices in the United States moved higher this past week, boosted by growing appetite among Asian consumers for US non-ferrous scrap and secondary aluminium ingot, among other factors, Fastmarkets understands.

Fastmarkets assessed the price for aluminium alloy A380.1, delivered Midwest US at 63-65 cents per lb on Thursday January 9, its highest since late September 2019, when the price range stood at 63-67 cents per lb. Multiple A380.1 deals were reported at 65 cents per lb, while deals below 63 cents were no longer heard in the market. Some producers have begun testing offers at 66 cents per lb, although no deals have been reported at that level yet. Fastmarkets’ assessments for aluminium alloy 319.1, delivered Midwest and aluminium alloy 356.1, delivered Midwest both rose by a penny on Thursday, moving to 73-75 cents per lb...
