China's plate export prices flat but offers start to rise

Export trading activity for Chinese plate picked up over the past week amid steady prices, though a weakening dollar has led to mills raising their latest offers.

Fastmarkets’ price assessment for March/April shipments of steel heavy plate export, fob China main port was $480-485 per tonne for the week ended Tuesday January 14, unchanged from a week earlier.
A trader in Zhejiang province said he had sold 2,000-3,000 tonnes of plate to Southeast Asia at base prices of $480-485 per tonne fob during the week, while another in Shanghai said he had heard of transactions being concluded at the price range over the same period.
