CHINA REBAR: Holiday mood leads to quiet market

China’s rebar market was quite on Wednesday January 22, with some market participants having already started their holidays ahead of the upcoming Chinese New Year break.

Eastern China (Shanghai): 3,640-3,670 yuan ($527-532) per tonne, unchanged
Northern China (Beijing): 3,540-3,560 yuan per tonne, unchanged
Several spot traders told Fastmarkets they had effectively been on holiday since Monday, with trading normally inactive before the Chinese New Year – which starts this Friday.
