LIVE FUTURES REPORT 07/02: SHFE base metals diverge amid sustained virus jitters

Base metals prices on the Shanghai Futures Exchange diverged during the morning trading session on Friday February 7 amid cautious sentiment.

While China’s announcement to halve tariffs on $75 billion of US goods from next week had generated optimism, concerns remain over the outbreak of the novel coronavirus in the country and its impact on the economy.
Copper led the loss among the contracts that ended the session negatively. Its most-traded April contract fell 0.8% - or 370 yuan ($53) per tonne - to 45,790 yuan per tonne.
