CHINA REBAR: Small-tonnage deals push up prices in eastern region

China’s domestic rebar prices were on divergent paths on Tuesday February 11, with those in the eastern region edging higher following the conclusion of several small-tonnage deals while the northern Chinese market continued to weaken amid slack demand.

Eastern China (Shanghai): 3,380-3,420 yuan ($484-489) per tonne, up by 20 yuan per tonne
Northern China (Beijing): 3,440-3,460 yuan per tonne, down by 20 yuan per tonne

A few customers with urgent need for rebar bought small tonnages of the material in eastern China, which pushed up prices...
